Antonio Varcasia was born and lives in Sardinia island (Italy). He's a PhD Veterinary and works at Sassari University as researcher.
Besides being an addicted angler he is also a well-known sportfishing journalist and video producer.
He collaborates in Italy with monthly magazines Pesca in Mare, La Pesca a mosca e spinning and Pesca In, and with Pesca & Barcos, Pesca Mar and Federpesca of GrupoV in Spain, Prakticni Ribolov in Croatia, Rovers in Belgium & Netherlands, Voyages de Peche in France, Mundo da Pesca in Portugal, +Lujo (Summa) in Central America, Scale Magazine (online magazine in english and german), Спиннинг Traveller in Russia, Outdoor UAE in United Arab Emirates and Middle East, Fish-on! in Singapore and Malaysia.
He’s also from 2004 saltwater spinning consultant of worldwide leader fishing tackle Shimano and Rapala VMC Corporation. Antonio also works with several brands that helps him in making his work, like Peli cases and light, Buff headwear, Sonim extreme mobiles, Troll pro (underwater housings).
Since 2009, he run also his own video production house, EVM pro for the production of videos targeting sportfishing and outdoors that he shares in the Italian TV Channel Caccia & Pesca (SKY group), and the Spanish TV channel "Caza y Pesca" of CANAL+ and in other European medias. Since 2010 starts his own show "Reality fishing" on predator fishing in Italy and worldwide, which is produced by EVMpro.
Always a supporter of responsible fishing, since 2004 began to transfer his knowledge on scientific research in the fishing world promoting and developing a series of projects for Marine conservation like those on conventional tagging of coastal gamefish, like that on the Mediterranean Barracuda in Northern Sardinia, active since 2004, the Dentag, the worldwide Dolphinfish tagging project of Don Hammond and finally the Bluefin Tuna tagging project supported by ICCAT in 2010 and Italian Ministry MIPAAF and carried out in Italy by APR (Alleanza Pescatori Ricreativi).
Until now Antonio have fished in several destinations around the world, like Spain, Holland, Ireland, Cabo Verde, Ascension Island, Tunisia, Madagascar, Seychelles, Eastern Syberia, Queen Charlotte Islands, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Florida Keys, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama Pinas Bay, Panama Channel, Argentina, Tierra del Fuego.
Despite this, Antonio always like to come back to his lovely Sardinia for fishing Barracuda and seabass, in fact he believes that fishing is not a “size matter” but emotions and passion that not grow old with years.
